Which router stands alone?

Hello

I hope someone can help. I've looked around but i'm unsure which router to go for. I need one that stands alone and is not connected to my pc. I have a PC downstairs connected to ntl. I want to move the PC upstairs without having to have any extra cabling. Is there one that does this?

Thanks

You need a wireless router......one that connects to your modem/stb with the ethernet cable and then 'beams' the signal to your PC. Your PC will need a wireless card to pick up the signal from the router.

I think what you mean is you want a wireless router - router sits next to your CM or STB and PC connections via Wi-Fi.

Have a look here http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/sh...ad.php?t=33018 for recommendations. I personally use Linksys devices.

Thanks for the help, guys.

The super efficient PAUL pm'd me and put me onto the Linksys and Netgear listed in the thread above. The "wireless" routers I'd seen before connected to a PC by USB, so I was a little confused about if wireless meant wireless in every sense, if you know what I mean. It seems I was thinking a bit too hard. I appreciate being pointed in the right direction, and so quickly by CF members.

What a lovely bunch of peeps you are!

Anyway, I'm going to shop around for the Netgear, but if anyone has any personal recommendations as to where to shop, feel free... I'm going to try the most obvious like Dabs, Scan etc
