Please help me. I am being driven insane by an illusion. Where does the 13th person come from?

Dont know if this makes much snese, but i belive if you watch the animation the second woman in from the left on the top row, leaves her feat behind, adding an extra person.

i seen this on here before too. the answer is that either the people arent complete people, or body parts are left behind...

Yes, the thirteenth person is made up of 'loose bits' from other people. The best way to see this is to print both figures and study them closely. Than you start seeing the odd missing arm, shorts on a person in the 12 people figure being longer than in the other one etc.

It seems a bit easier to fathom if, instead of thinking it's 12 people becoming 13... you start with the picture of 13 then see it swap to 12... I think? One of them is very tall. Then what happens is, when he splits up it only takes a couple of little parts to make him into two people.

At this point I realise that I am talking rubbish, and indeed I am making no sense at all.

I don't get it!...why is this an illusion??? default image is 12 then they swap over to 13...so? :erm:
