Outllok not sending email
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and new to NTL Broadband. I have a freeserve email account and can receive email no problem via Outlook. However, when trying to send an email via Outlook the mail sits in the Outbox and will not leave. I have set up another account from within Outlook (Tools --> Accounts) and set up the POP and SMTP servers as pop.ntlworld.com and smtp.ntlworld.com respectively and can receive email into Outlook from my @ntlworld email account but I can't send email - no error messages appear other than the normal pop box telling me it is receiving mail but no sending mail message. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please? Thanks in advance. |

For a Freeserve account, you may still need to set your SMTP server to ntl if you're connecting through an ntl account; many ISPs' SMTP servers won't accept connections from IP ranges outside their customer base. __________________ Quote:

Re: Outllok not sending email
I just read you message properly
Instead pop.ntlworld.com and smtp.ntlworld.com you need to put what freeserve tell you |
Re: Outllok not sending email
ntl's mail is working fine here.
All your accounts need to use smtp.ntlworld.com while on the ntl network. In Outlook - if you do Tools > Send, you should get a pop-up box showing the progress of any attempted sends as it tries them. |
Re: Outllok not sending email
can you telnet in?
ie- start/run, type "cmd" - type "telnet" then press enter - type "open smtp.ntlworld.com 25" and press enter - does it error? |
Re: Outllok not sending email
Thanks everyone for the suggestions/advice/help.
Paul M hit the nail on the head with all accounts needing to have smtp.ntlworld.com as the server - feel such a idiot, but I knew someone out there would have the answer. Thanks again to all those who took the trouble to reply. Regards Cave_troll |
