SUtton Coldfield mast

Does this mast host any mobile aerials?

O2 maybe?

You can look it up at http://www.sitefinder.radio.gov.uk/, an online database listing all mobile phone base stations.

Thought Sutton Coalfield had shut down recently, it was an ITV transmitter i think.

There needs to be another one set up as a lot of people in the east midlands pick this one up and whatever way you try and move your aerial, east midlands services cant get picked up. You just get the west midlands feed from this mast.
I've spent many days trying to fix this.

If you want East Midlands news etc you need to use the Waltham transmitter, this is virticaly polarised instead of the horizontal that Sutton Coldfield uses. Sutton Coldfield is 1000,000 watts erp while Waltham is 250 watts erp

This link might help http://tx.mb21.co.uk/info/tvtxlist.shtml

We still get our TV transmissions from it (in the East Midlands) :D

(We cannot pickup Waltham because there is a big hill in the way).

No, Waltham is a MAIN transmitter and is H-polarised.

Thanks banjo, I'l check that info out.
The only other way ofcourse is to use digital services, but not everyone has it.

I think you will find Waltham is V polarised and a medium power transmitter, or I have seen hundreds of aerials mounted incorrectly and with mast head amps :)

Sadly not, Belmont is also hidden by a hill. Kimberley is a strange one - we are only about 3 miles from the transmitter, but can barely get a signal from it. Until we got ntl we had to suffer West Midlands news.

Waltham is horizontal, always has been. The Aerials you are seeing will be most likely be pointing at either the Nottingham or Kimberley repeaters.
