Photography - What camera do you recommend?
I am looking to get a new digital camera and my Dad advised me if I want to get some good shots buy a SLR, what makes do you recommend?
I have heard that Canon and FujiFilm are good but they have nice price tags as well, looking for something strong and one that will give me some good images. |
Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Although I'm not going to advise you what to get - as I don't know enough about it.
I think you should indicate how much budget you have. p.s. I have a fuji digam - but it's not a 'proper' slr. |
Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
I do not really have a budget, looking for something that is reasonably price but I do not want to pay over the odds for it. I'm looking to treat myself at the end of the month with any spare cash left over.

Bifta's selling a nice one in the 'for sale' section.

Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Oh that looks a good offer, but at the minute I cannot afford that. Just in the middle of buying a car. I'll see what is around at the end of the month or next month, surely there will be some offers on on the run up to Christmas.

Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
I recently started a thread on SLRs here . As was suggested in that thread, you may want to consider a high end 'point and shoot' camera unless you plan to make it in to a hobby.

Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Maybe I should stop buying and try and sell some of what I have then start again!
I'm prepared to pay a bit for a camera as they last a while and you can make money out of them. Canon seems to be popular so I might get one of them. |
Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Oh, matthew, as Andygrif mentioned in the other thread: this month's practical photography has a test of digital SLRs...

Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Yeah I will bear that in mind. Thanks for all the help so far.

Re: Photography - What camera do you recommend?
Matthew, what kind of photographs are you planning on taking with your new camera? Are things like upgradeable lenses and filters important to you? Do you want to use the camera with studio flash or an external flash gun, or just the built-in one? Is size an issue?
You need to ask yourself all these questions before you decide on the style of camera you want to buy. You dad is only partially correct when he says that SLRs are deliver better shots - nowadays you can get wonderful results with a digital compact. It is harder to get the wonderful shots from a DSLR, but when you manage it..it feels great! |
