COD cd key in use!
 

on arriving home today from work i loaded up COD to join a server and everyone i try to join i get "cd key already in use". i have a valid version of the game; what can i do?

Worry sounds like someone got your cdkey? have any friends who could have copied it? or did you buy it from a friend who could be still using it? or did you give out your cdkey to ANYONE.?

yeah i was just onto customer support and they said turn firewall off, idiots. i asked guy could he give me new cd-key or replacement game and he said they couldnt do that id need to goto shop but game was bought over year ago doubt many game stores would do a return for that length of time!

Did you buy the game from new? If not, chances are the person who flogged it to you is still using the key now and then.

Also, my local Asda used to remove the CDs from games, but leave the manuals inside the boxes... guess they didn't realise that the serial printed on the manual is worth more than the CD.

Normally, the publishers ask you to prove that you have a legit copy of the game, ie take a photo or a photocopy of the manual clearly showing the serial that's in use. They then disable that one, and supply you with a new one. I believe there's a charge involved in this though (which I disagree with).

If I was you, I'd call them back, saying you followed their advice and would like to exchange the compromised serial for a new one. See how much they want to charge you, and calculate if this is more than buying a new copy of the game.
