Super Slow browsing speeds yet not my downloads?
 

Hey all, well this is getting worse on both IE and Firefox my browsing on websites such as CF is like 14.4k modems, I am on ntl 2mb and my downloads from like www.winamp.com come at normal 200kbs + speeds.

Yet browsing is so slow, I have emptied cookies reset defaults, cleaned registry but to no avail?

Can anyone assist me here?

Try changing your transparent cache address.

How would I do that Bifta? I just noticed it has speeded up again to normal speed, I counted 40seconds for a single f5 on this thread. Now it has speeded up again.

Baffled.

Has been a while since i used FF on a pc... erm... i think it is tools, options, connection settings, then check the proxy server box and insert an address and port number

Or you can use the proxy extension for FF and try different proxies till you find a good one.
Might make it easier in the future as you can line up multiple proxy addresses and switch till you find one that is functioning well for you

The one I am using in both IE and FF seems to have done the job back to near instant page loading, now I have same thing to do on the pentium 1 200mhz machine which is trying to load the page with same issue?

It did it in 10minutes about.

Amazed.

Got it running a through scandisk now then a registry cleanup.
