Copying texts from Nokia 6600 to 6680
 

Hi Guys,

Just got me new phone but I can't find a way of transferring the texts from my old Nokia 6600 to the new Nokia 6680.

I had hoped that the Transfer application would take car of it but all that's done is make a mess of my image folders (just about got that sorted, all I need to do now is work out the image manager).

Anybody managed to do this? Or got any ideas how I can accomplish it?

I can't forward from the new phone to the old. I'm using the same SIM in both so if I forward it will just deliver to the old phone :(

I've got about 100 texts that I really want to save.

Do you have the appropriate data cables and software? If so, can you transfer them from one to PC, then from the PC to the other phone...?

Nokia software can do this, can't remember what its called but I know I tried it a few months ago. If no-one else comes up with the name of it I'll google it for you.

Have the data cable for the 6680 but that's it :(

I did have a working bluetooth device (and the Nokia data suite) but I can't get the bluetooth dongle to work with the 6600 now so I can't test that to see if it will work.

Thanks Paul, the only software I can think of that Nokia do is the DataSuite, but without a working bluetooth device on the Laptop I won't be able to get the files off of the 6600 :(

Is your phone compatible with the Nokia PC Suite software?

Yep, but can't seem to get the phone to connect to my bluetooth device :(

Your 6600 won't communicate with the bluetooth on the laptop? Can they see each other at all? I know there were problems with Nokia bluetooth communications which sometimes needed the bluetooth drivers replacing to get it to work properly. I've just plugged my bluetooth into my PC for the first time in ages and it transfered first time for a change lol.

I'll try reinstalling the bluetooth software/drivers again.

Not sure what's going on, managed to get it working ages ago and now it just doesn't want to know :(

Some of the nokias have issues when it comes to bluetooth, I've not long had to reset Chi's handsfree headset as it messed it's pairing with her phone up. Is the bluetooth on the phone working correctly?

Yep, Bluetooth on the phone works fine - just won't work with the Nokia Datasuite.

Might have to uninstall that and try an older version of the software :(

Need to go out now anyway, so I'll have to have a go later.

You can do this!Right, you need to create a folder on your MMC on the 6600 and put all your messages you want into it. Then take your MMC to the 6680 OR a pc card reader and either,
1) Drop the card into the 6680 and simply copy the messages to the new phone, and bobs your uncle...OR
2) Tranfer the message folder to your PC then bluetooth across the messgaes to your 6680 if you have a bluetooth PC dongle of course! ;)
