Usb3
Bit of background. Get "video's " sent from states. I copy on to flash drives using video download helper. My Samsung TV will play some and say it can't play others -not supported. Can't work why. Wondering if it's because I sometimes use usb 3 slot on pc and sometimes one labelled just USB

Re: Usb3
Codecs possibly. Does your Samsung have the ability to update software/firmware? What is the model of your tele?

Re: Usb3
More than likely it's due to codecs used, either re-encode the videos using something like Handbrake, probably from h.265 or AV1 to h.264.
Get the model number for the tv from it's settings menu and then search google for supported media codecs. |
Re: Usb3
Download and install handbreak and covert those that do not play to MP4 on a PC of do it with something similar if you have to do it on a mobile . Or set up and run plex it is still free for same network .
I use videoproc very good and cheap and downloads of certain sites you can not use without paying £15 a month |

Re: Usb3
is the extension MP4 ? there might be an audio codec issue also. Have you tried casting from PC to Tv and playing it that way ?
You can convert a none working MP4 into a different format MP4 Handbreak will do it |

Just looked at handbrake, need a clear head and a friend on my shoulder ! That's why I use vdh it's simple! |
Re: Usb3
Have you tried installing a video player such as VLC on the TV. That deals with a lot of codecs etc.

Re: Usb3
you could use soemthing like
https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo on a file that works on a tv to see which video and audio codecs work if handbrake is too complicated use winff https://github.com/WinFF/winff it's not supported any more, but i like it, i use it for similar reasons for playing back files on the ps4, if they don't work i use that and select ps4 from the dropdown and that converts them and they always work after |
