Major incident near RAF base
 

A number of properties in Whelford, Gloucestershire, have been evacuated following a major incident being declared. Several men have been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act. A specialist ordnance disposal team has been at the scene. Follow the latest.

No further news at yet of who the men are.

Entering a site like that with "specialist" guards on duty risks a pop from a long gun with no warning.

It could either be a left-wing stunt (in which case the ‘explosives’ the polis are looking for will probably just be fireworks) or else someone is trying to open a branch of Ali’s Snack Bar on the base perimeter, in which case it’s serious ordnance, or possibly a drone swarm.

Given the apparent scale of it my money’s on something state sponsored, with Iran’s fingerprints all over it, possibly attempting to emulate the Ukrainian attack in Russia which used drones launched from lorries to blow up Russian long-range bombers.

anyway, regarding the perpetrators, at least Farage and anti immigrant protesters are in the clear . . so far ;)
