I never actually watched Rainbow, but I do know of Zippy.

My Dad was quite high up at Dunlop in Coventry and one year me and a few mates went to see Jim Davidson at the old theatre . It was all for kids though so not his normal show. Anyway George and Zippy was in the show as was a then unknown Bobby Davro

<pedant> Only actually the voice for the final few episodes, after the definitive voice of zippy (Roy Skelton) retired. Skelton was also known for doing dalek and cyberman voices in the classic era of Dr Who.

Ronnie Le Drew was always Zippy’s puppeteer though. RIP.
