AWS Outage

Surprised no one has started a topic on this yet.

AWS East 1 suffered an issue this morning that took hundreds of sites offline.

I’ve been too busy listening to my daughter moaning about snapchat not working. :D

I did get a load of (what I believe were) spurious disconnection alerts from OVRC which monitors the status of our church internet and all its wireless access points. Typically in a power or network outage, I get half a dozen emails at once as OVRC loses sight of everything at once. Today it was taking about half an hour between emails and I suspect the network probably wasn’t even down at any point (day off so didn’t bother to go down and check - the building was empty anyway).

My workplace was affected for a short while first thing this morning as we use Amazon Connect for our call centre system. Just caused SSO issues but by 9:30 all was OK.

My heating automation relies on a system that triggers alexa routines.

That system broke just after 8.30am, triggering alerts to me.
I was fast asleep at that time, so I didnt see any of them until this afternoon.

I reset the connection and it seemed to pick up ok.
