Disney+ showing USA content

Here's a weird one.

So I've just tried to log into my Disney+ on my Roku and a pop up appeared saying 'Looks like you're travelling!' which I'm not as I'm sat in my living room at home. It is showing the USA Disney+ content and age ratings (PG-13, etc).

I checked on my mobile, when it's connected to the wifi it does the same but when I connect to data (iD Mobile) I get the UK version of Disney+.

BBC iPlayer loads as normal on the Roku.

I have restarted the hub and it still does the same as above.

Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?

You are using VPNs by the look of it.

The IP you just posted with comes back as PIA (Denmark).

The Roku box is connected directly to the TV and doesn't have a VPN on it. Also I only use a VPN on my PC and I turned it off for testing. I would have expected content from the Denmark version of Disney+ on my PC if the VPN was on and not the USA content. My phone doesn't have a VPN installed on it.

Bit of an update.

I also am unable to play videos on Paramount+

You can not put a VPN on the Roku so it is the Wifi used by the Roku which is triggering any non-UK access.

The most likely thing you are seeing is that your IP address has already been registered as being in another country.

You'll need to contact your ISP to get that resolved.

It is not uncommon and is often reported in the Sky forums where users are blocked from using Sky as they are registered as being outside the UK.

I'm stuck on Virgin at the moment. I've checked the service status page and it says there is intermittent signal in my area at the moment so I'm hoping that this is the problem but I'm not holding my breath about it.

No change after the signal issue has apparently been fixed.

It's also affecting the Pluto TV app as well.

I used to have that with Community Fibre which thought I was in the US. I didn't use any VPNs. Eventually it was resolved.

So just have to wait and see if it fixes itself then?

This is getting ridiculous now. Watching WWE Raw on Netflix from last night and getting unskippable American adverts. Age ratings are showing in the American style now as well.

I tried speaking to CS but they just insisted there was nothing wrong.

Contacted Disney+ on there help site chat, 10 minutes later they have refreshed my IP address on their system and it's working correctly again.

No such luck with Netflix or Paramount+ though and only an email form for Pluto TV.

Could this be the issue?

If it is how would I explain it to the idiots at Virgin? Headend ID?

Can you not use a VPN to get around everything until it's fixed?

It's a shame you haven't got a 4K Fire stick.
