Glastonbury Performance Investigations
Police have launched investigations into the Bob Vylan and Kneecap Glastonbury sets.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd0vvnl41mno The BBC is in a bit of hot water around the fact it continued to broadcast Bob Vylan. Quote:

If individuals can be identified and there its sufficient proof that they did chant it, then, presumably, yes.

In Belfast police arrested a 72 yo Jewish woman recently for putting Palestinian stickers on an atm. We're getting closer to a police state if the priority is protesters over real criminals .
They don't stop the orange order marches where they sing about "up to our knees in Fenian blood" which happens almost daily. |

Re: Glastonbury Performance Investigations
I've seen Bob Vylan live a couple of times, they're very good, luckily I was watching the live stream so got to see that as well.
It's as Kneecap have been saying since they got in hot water, the press are keen to talk about what these ppl said, but happy to ignore what they were talking about, the real issue which provoked the statements. The "funny" thing is, I don't think they expected any of the crowd, or anyone at home to jump on a plane, fly to a warzone and start killing soldiers. the messages screened behind the group were interestin as well - The UN calls it genocide, the BBC calls it conflict. Kneecap wasn't broadcast live, but you can watch a lot of it un iplayer - you can hear the free Palestone chants, and jokes about BBC not being able to edit out all the flags etc, not sure how much was cut. |
Re: Glastonbury Performance Investigations
It's clear what Bob Vylan did that the police can investigate, although I am not sure it it will reach a criminal level.
What did Kneecap do? I am aware of what they've said elsewhere that's got them in trouble, but here I don't see anything worthy of investigation. They joked about a riot outside the court before specifically saying they're not serious, they said the British government is aiding a genocide, and they said 'f Starmer'. None of which is close to illegal. I also don't see what the BBC did wrong. They stream these performances live, and it's a great thing to do. A side-effect is that you can't be sure what will happen at a live event, and we as the audience understand that. I hope this doesn't stop that. |
Re: Glastonbury Performance Investigations
People just want consistency and the law applied fairly across the board.
Lucy Connolly remains in prison for Tweet. Personally, I don't think Bob Vylan should be prosecuted, but neither do I think Lucy Connolly should be in prison. And as Lucy Connolly is in prison, then to be consistent Vylan should be charged for inciting violence. |
