Okay, this is weird
 

My laptop battery was slowly dying; as of yesterday it was at 24%.

That is, it was dying. Now it reads 100%. Not that I'm complaining, but what gives?

If you need a replacement hop on eBay.com not eBay.co.uk if you don't get any results on .co.uk. I got a new original replacement on .com for my Asus Zephyrus having only found cheap copies on .co.uk

I didn't change it because of fluctuations.

You charged it up? :confused:

There's a lot of bumph out there saying that they should not be charged above 80%, but manufacturers took that into account years ago, stopping charging at 80% but reporting "100%". They also cut off the battery before it is deep-discharged. So, just let them sort themselves out until they finally fail with age.

Yes, it does. Still holding at 100%.

This sort of thing annoys me: there's a problem, you look into it, suddenly the problem is gone and the whatever-it-is just sits there looking at you and innocently saying 'What?' as if there was never anything wrong.

did you do anything with the battery ie reseat it as I've had it a couple of times 1 of the connectors with the laptop battery was a bit loose.

Down to 99% now. The weirdness continues.

The battery in my dads laptop doesnt charge up anymore so if its unplugged for more than 10 secs,ya gotta reset the clock and WIFI settings......

That is more likely the cmos or RTC battery not the physical battery causing that
