Apple Devices not recognising iPhone

Im trying to connect my iPhone 15 PM to my new laptop so I can sync and backup data.

Problem is Apple Devices isn’t recognising the iPhone when I plug it in. The phone charges ok so it’s not the cable or USB and what makes it even more annoying is AD is recognising my iPad perfectly well when I plug that in and I’ve already been able to back its data up.

I’ve looked on Apple’s support page for others with the same problem and all I’m finding is the usual “thank you please” cut and paste responses from the tech people about “please make sure the cable is working” and “try restarting your iPhone” and other such crap.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is there any security that is stopping the laptop for accessing the port?

Have you tried another cable?

I’m using the same port for the iPhone and I am for the iPad.

Re: Apple Devices not recognising iPhone

It can but Apple is quietly phasing it out. Im getting the same problem with iTunes anyway.

some cables are power charging only - definitely try changing the cable out for a data enabled cable even if you think it's not the cable at fault
