I did find another CHESS thread on this base (CHESS GAME FOR PC) but most of the links are now invalid so I just started this new one...

I found a good small CHESS game

Winboard 4.07

http://web.archive.org/web/200010180...nn/xboard.html

The folder its in is only 1.98 Megs... (4 files)

I made an entry for it in my games menu....

You can play the computer or have the computer play itself I think..

Im not very good at Chess but its fun to play..........

I love the Electronic Arts game called Battle Chess (90s).

There was an animation when specific pieces took others

Wow I hadnt heard of that!

The computer keeps beating me :D

I put it on "2 machines" to see what it would look like...... It was funny seeing them go at it!!

Is there usually a time limit on games??

This sets the time @ 300 seconds.. I dunno if it can be changed.......

You know you really don't know how to play if you can't tell the difference between your King and Queen.

Your Queen is at the bottom and your King is in checkmate with their Knight and you can't move it anywhere else because it gets caught by their Bishop or Queen, you should be protecting your King and not moving it out into the open.
