Is my Virgin broadband bill fair?

There seems to be a lot of people who have a contract renewal coming up.

In order to check what you are paying when compared to other Virgin customers, this is a useful site. Of course, it can only compare with what others have input, but those of us who want to give them the least amount of money possible would probably be using the site, so it does give a good indication of how well your deal is when compared to others:

Re: Is my Virgin broadband bill fair?

My contract ends on the 31st January and yesterday I decided to go down the CSA route rather than the chat bots.
Once I heard the phone ringtone I knew that I was going to speak to a CSA probably living on Mars. I spent the best part of 30 minutes and the best she could come up with was the figure showing to renew my contract.
OK, I digress. The proper rate for my contract is supposed to be £144 but with discounts, for the past 12 months I have been paying £106 and a renewal was going to be £120.
The csa put me through to retentions, and an Engllish gent from up north, we were quickly able to arrange a new 18 month contract at the present £106, but he also added Sky cinema/Netflix basic.
So I am happy, he is happy and VM well???
I have a V6 Tivo with M350 upgraded to 500 cos of O2, home phone Anytime chatter, Maxit bigger bundle with Sky Sports HD pack and TNT sport, Sky cinema and Netflix basic.
I hope this helps somebody.

Their new tactic seems to be to offer extra services for free instead of offering a discount. This benefits Virgin as it won't cost them the same as what is being added.

In effect, you are now using what would have have been a discount to pay for new services or upgrades, which may or may not suit the individual customer.

I thought it funny as last time my contract was up (18 mths ago) the csa said to me that if I gave up Sky Cinema my monthly payment would be less. :)

Depending on how much they are charging you for Sky Cinema and how much you want/use it it might be worth cancelling it and benefitting from the discount instead.

I keep being offered it for £1 a month, but haven't yet taken it as there's nothing on it that I would watch.

I have just recontracted and insisted that I continue to get TNT Sports at no extra cost. In the end they said that they had to change me £18 a month, but reduced my other package by £18.

I accepted because the benefits of this are that I can now cancel the standalone TNT Sports add on with a month's notice should I wish to and have a dirt cheap subscription for everything else and the first £18 of my subscription is no longer subject to the annual in contract percentage price increase.

Got fed up with virgin phoning me. I didn't bother to answer for the last two weeks . So I did answer, are virgin going crazy:shocked:spoke a girl with a very strong accent. She reduced by bill by a £2 per month for no reason at all , have an 18 month contract with 16 still to go so that's not the reason. And yes checked my account and it's down

Don't forget that the Virgin number can be spoofed by scammers though in order to try and obtain personal data/information or to scam you out of money.

Virgin left the personal details of many of their customers on the internet for anyone to see for a considerable amount of time, so it's easy for them to convince people that they are Virgin that's calling you.
