Hello guys how are ya??

Sometimes my Mouse cable gets loose and when I bootup it says "Windows did not detect a mouse.........." -- I then make sure the cable is tightly in place and the mouse light comes on but it doesnt work......

Is there anyway to reset things so when I re-connect my mouse it works?? (I usually have to reboot)

When this happens with my keyboard thankfully all I do is make sure its tight and it works...

I dont understand why my Mouse light comes on so its getting power but it doesnt work......

Computers are strange........

If the plug is loose in the socket, it'll often fail to be "seen" by Windows. So just buy a new mouse, unless it is the socket that is worn. Is it USB or PS/2?

Or better still buy a 'proper' computer!

can you not plug the mouse directly into a USB port? PS/2 does require reboots for the port to pick up the periferal iirc (going back 20 odd years here). USB is hot swappable and will detect on the fly. If you don't have a spare USB port, get a USB hub to give you more ports.

However, the real answer has already been said - you really should get a new machine that is up-to-date

Thats interesting,I didnt realise USB was on the fly.....

I have 1 empty USB port.......Ill try that, thank you IDI!!

doesn't matter, it's analogue, so much better than that rubbish led digital lazer mouse nonsense :P

I remember many years ago when an old boss lent me his mouse cleaner, amazing plastic nobbly ball on a stick to put in the well which cleaned the rollers, game changer, until those new fangled mice came along.
