Generally they ain't hidden.

They are for engineers to fault find stuff.

In my Samsung I type a code in the phone dialling and it unlocks the developer mode a powerful buy can be dangerous.

Its not exactly secret, Ive known about it for more years than I can remember, and its mentioned all over the internet.

It worked the same on the Sky+HD boxes, and probably the SD boxes (I dont remember that far back tbh, had HD since around 2009).

I would say that these "hidden" menus are hidden for a reason, they are not for public use.
