Stick or twist?

Hi all,

Been working out a deal with virgin media and would like your opinion. Contract is up in a month.

So at the moment you do have one of our bigger packages so to keep it similar to what you have now it would be:

Volt 1Gig Broadband
Mega TV with TNT, Sky Sports and Cinema, Sky Sports HD, Kids pick and Netflix
Anytime Chatter
3 set top boxes
2 WiFi Pod
for £104.75 a month for 18 months

Currently paying £80 a month which i thought at the time was a blooming good deal and unlikely to happen again

Should i stick with this or should i twist?

Do you actually use add-ons such as the Kids pack? If not you could ask for it to be removed and save a bit more.

What base would you then work from in 18 months?

It can be a problem if you are buying a "bundle" deal that automatically includes the Kids pack. Also, packages have changed somewhat since I last renegotiated.

Understand, still can't see what paying £x for mega nstead of mix tv what " loads of extra channels " I would get

My contract is up and to my surprise, My Virgin account deal offered me a deal, to be honest, my out-of-contact price isn't as crazy as I've seen from friends or family.

https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2024/08/3.jpg

Clicking the button takes you to an offer page and they also email you
The offer doesn't include TNT Sports or mention the amount of boxes as I have 3.
https://www.cableforum.uk/images/local/2024/08/4.jpg

So I did the WhatsApp chat as I also want to upgrade to TV360 for Sky Sports+
This was the offer

It's £30 more than I'm currently paying, it didn't have the 3rd box or any Netflix doesn't mention UHD Sky Cinema either.
So will have to do the phone call tomorrow and then the thinking of leaving option as it's the only way to get things done

I've tried to have a look at one of the barrage of please renew emails today. My contract isn't up till the end of October. Clicked on the renew contract button and get, "we can't find that page"
I'm trying to deal with someone on whatsapp but I need to change the telephone password. Easy enough you might think, no no no not with VM. The password must have an upper case letter, the password dialogue doesn't recognise those.

I give up with them.

Phoning is best Kev, even then its a pain. If you don't get a UK answer hang up and try another day .

No wonder they are shedding customers. The recontracting circus/game and consistently crap CS seriously pees the punters off.

A Virgin Media spokesperson said:

We know we don’t always get it right when it comes to customer service and we have a comprehensive strategy in place to improve. We have boosted the number of agents
Unless you're boosting them in the UK, with people who actually understand the products, and not just blindly follow a script, you wasted your time.

Last time I tried to speak to someone, it took three attempts. The first (& second) people I got I just could not understand at all.
The third person I managed to understand (just) but they seemed about as bright as a candle. It took ages just to get them to understand that all I wanted to renew was broadbrand (not to mention, keep telling them I dont want any of your "upgrade" offers).

Just one reason I plan on leaving in early 2025 when my 18 months is up.

The CS agent although obviously offshore tried their best but couldn't beat VM's system issues. Turned out that I could change the telephone password by NOT including a capital letter!!

I'll wait till D day on the contract but given the loss of content to be replaced by FAST channels will not wash with the currently planned £140 renewal in October.

i tried the forums and got 3 boxes and TNT Sports for £105. But i did get a discount as the first contract they sent through was incorrect.

I phoned and got everything I had for £107
Will only have one April price rise to deal with in that 18 Month's contract so that's good.
Look at this out-of-contract price it's insane!!

How come you get S/Sports UHD in there? I thought that was a paid extra Vince?

Just had a chat with a staff member on the VM Forum.

My contract ends 2nd September, and after that it was going up to £85.84 - after a friendly chat, it will be £70 (Volt 250Mb BB, Maxit -> Mega TV, Weekend Chatter); I’m waiting to hear back what the price would be without the Phone Line…

I've tried a couple of times to ditch the 'phone line. Each time it is not a problem but will not change the cost.
