Re: Rescue From Gilligans Island - 16mm
Why waste time with lower quality.
If it's scanned from the actually film stock then you are seeing it in it's best most detail way. The only thing worth doing next would be to digitally restore it by cleaning up and removing all the scratches and skips. |
Arent you interested buddy in things like this??
Like how it l00ked originally?? Im a purist myself........ |
Re: Rescue From Gilligans Island - 16mm
I know how it originally looked. That's scanned from the 16mm. That is it's purest form probably.
That's why we have advances in technology. To make things better. |
Ya I have a couple movies on VHS that are on 16mm (They were copied directly from the print to the VHS tape)
The Movie DOA from 1950 is from VCI Home Video and I dont know what year this came out,I think early 80s but they didnt clean it up or anything...... To me its goregous...... Its nice seeing it as it was on the original reels...... |
Re: Rescue From Gilligans Island - 16mm
You do realise all the spots and marks are caused by scratches and dust. They weren't there when the prints were first made.
That's why new digital transfers from old stock is colour corrected and cleaned up. So they look as good as they did the first time people saw them. What your are seeing now old old VHS or Betamax or original 16mm or 35mm is degradation of the film stock due to its age. Colours fade and everytime it's handled or put through a tape player or projector it gets scratched and damaged. Digitally remastered and restored is actually putting the films back to the way they would have been in the beginning. |
This is the first movie I have seen with cue marks on the upper left of the screen..... 35mm films only have it on the upper right......
They were there at the start werent they?? (The movie DOA for example) |
