Something very very weird is going on
 
Chrome no longer runs on Windows 11 - it flashes up briefly, then vanishes. But it does work in Windows 8, either on my old laptop or in Win 8 compatibility mode...on the Administrator account, which I know from experience is not safe. I tried restart - didn't work. Uninstalled and reinstalled - doesn't want to know.

What's going on? How do I correct it?

Hmmm and you did try it in compat mode??

Im curious what would happen if you did a sysrestore to a time it worked??

Does Event Viewer give you any clues?

Have you run a deep clean? I use bleachbit

Try chrome canary, I can't remember if it gives choice to import settings or not, first try without, if that works try again with, if it breaks I guess it's your local chrome profile

I had this once. I uninstalled it. Deleted all remanent files and folders that were left behind. Then a registry clean up. Re-installed it and it worked out fine.

Okay, it's running in Win 8 compatibility mode now, and seems to be working - even my shortcuts are back. Strange. Oh well. Thanks!

Why the love of Chrome? You would be far better trying maybe Vivaldi, Brave or Edge as a better Chromium browser replacement.

Personally I think Vivaldi is the dogs danglies.
