Warning Retentions Call Flagged as Spam

Thought I would post this warning as some might be missing deal calls after putting in their 30 days notice

I recently ended my contract when I got the letter about the new rules from April. I put my 30 days notice in fully expecting a call the next day (this had happened the last 2 times at least)

Later the next day I had a call come through on my mobile flagged as potential spam. Because I was expecting a call from VM I answered it just in case. I do like playing with scammers anyway. It was VM. I pressed them for information, they had my full name, address, account details and package details. So I proceeded with the call and got an excellent deal they sent out precontract info from VM before I agreed.

I told the rep about the number being flagged as spam and he said he would raise it and try to get it fixed but there is no way of knowing if it was fixed or not.

So there may be people on their 30 days notice missed the call due to it being flagged as spam and they may if they really wanted to stay need to call back and check

I think your phone was right, it was Spam. Before you were a contract free agent. Now your tied in for 18 months with unknown increases. Trust your phone's Spam filter. ;)

I took the 1 increase I am tied to by contract into account when I took the offer

As a contract free agent I would have had to pay almost double for the privilege. Clever that hey?;)

Cold Calls = Spam ? Seems reasonable.
They kept calling me everyday until I blocked the number.

Numbers get marked like this when people report them as spam, often by mistake but unless you recognise a number or are expecting a call back your not going to answer it unless you are 1 of these that answers all calls. Numbers mistakenly get tagged then and not always as each to remove or it could be part of a batch of numbers that are used for spam. If you are not expeciting a call or they cannot verify who they are end the call simple.

I would not have answered had I not been expecting the call back

I suppose if you answer and its someone you dont wanna talk to,simply say "Sorry ya got the wrong number" :)

On the (rare) occasion I answer an unknown call, I dont say anything, I let them speak first. If they start off on a sales (or survey) pitch they get cut off.
If they start asking me to "verify my identity" they quickly get reminded they called me, so they can either consider me verified, or end the call, their choice.

I adopt a simlar aproach, its suprising how many "unsolicited" calls end when you dont speak. Its also quite funny the confusion that " your'e the people who rang me so you must know my details" statement causes.
