Re: Re name a folder
If it is on a drive that is writeable, yes. Right click, Rename
If it is on a CDR or read only format, then no. |
Re: Re name a folder
What are the contents? is there anything in there with association with programs or anything ? if it is just random files then you should be ok
|
I would think any folder on ANY OS can be renamed if its in an unlocked place...... (Not a CDROM for example)

Re: Re name a folder
If you have opened something from within the folder then you need to close it first before it will let you rename the folder.

I just tried that on Win98se. I opened a text file (notepad) and then changed the folder name....... It let me do it but then when I clicked SAVE on notepad it said "Error saving file"
You would think it would create a new folder/filename if 1 didnt exist...... (From changing the name as I did of the directory) I hadnt ever tried that..... |

I tried it with Wordpad and wordpad just opened a box asking me where to save it....
Then I made a copy of a file and deleted it and then changed the folder name and went to recycle bin and clicked RESTORE.. The original folder was re-created with just that 1 file in it.. |
Re: Re name a folder
You could try it at the DOS prompt
Win key + S CMD in the CMD window cd c:\foldername of parent ren sourcename targetname |
