Price increase

I used to have a Virgin SIM included with my deal but when I changed recently I got an O2 SIM which I pay separately for. The Virgin SIM was included in my Virgin bill so never went up but the O2 SIM got a 17%+ increase which added over £4 to my monthly bill.
The reception round here on O2 is nowhere near as good as Vodafone or EE. Luckily my wife has the O2 SIM (which she hardly uses) and I have Vodafone SIM (due to number porting).
Does anyone know how much more VOLt is without the SIM (we really don’t need it) if, indeed, you can get it without the SIM?

You might be still in your 18 months contract. You can downgrade the SIM only package to a lower price in the app. You'd be better ringing to check your own position.

I know I am in contract for a while yet, but when I renew I’d rather do it without the SIM if that’s an option.
Thanks.

Volt benefits currently require the household to have an O2 SIM. Doesn't need to be just or only the cable account holder.

The latest VM mobile bill has arrived. Normally £18.99 pm.

An email this morning from O2:

"From April 2026, your airtime plan will now be increasing by £2.50 instead of £1.80."

The UK's media regulator has criticised O2 for raising its prices by more than it promised customers when they took out their phone contracts.

I bet they are petrified about OFCOM being 'disappointed' with them. They might get a mild telling off...

ASDA mobile for me. £5 a month, no contract.

I just go on USwitch when my contract needs renewal, and get a better O2 deal through them - last time I moved from £12 sim only to £5.99 sim only, both with O2 (in both case 10GB per month, unlimited calls and texts, and free EU roaming)

I wonder how many will be voting with their feet following this price hike.

We are off to ID Mobile with both of our phones.

I recently changed from o2 to ID. I went through the Carphone Warehouse and got a Samsung S25 with 500gb data per month for £25pm 2 year contract and got to claim a free Tab A9 as well.

I work in a quite rural area and get better signal with ID that I did with o2.

Virgin haven't revoked my Volt bonuses yet either.
