Tucker Carlson and Fox ‘News’ part ways …

The Trumpites’ MAGA cheerleader-in-chief, Tucker Carlson, has left Fox ‘news’ with immediate effect. His last show, according to the network, was last Friday night. They’re not even giving him a final show as a goodbye. We will all have to draw our own conclusions as to how mutually agreed this arrangement was, and the extent to which Carlson’s tell-em-what-they-want-to-hear approach (as revealed by text messages given in evidence at the Dominion libel trial) has led to his downfall.

While his impact on British public life is negligible, limited perhaps to giving one or two people at GB ‘News’ ideas, I suspect the overall health of Western democracy has been fractionally improved by removing him from America’s most watched news channel.

Tucker Carlson was previously fired from CNN and MSNBC.

His dismissal from Fox makes him the first anchor to be fired from all three cable networks…

He had the top rated show on all of cable news (so I believe, I haven’t fact checked it), so a very bold move by Fox.

I suspect a further story coming soon?

Speculation includes a Presidental run.

But this could also be because of the lawsuit from Dominion over the election claims which Fox News settled for a massive amount. He may be their highest-rating TV host but he may also have been seen as a liability. The fact Dominion had e-mails showing that privately he didn't like Trump and knew the claims were bogus probably didn't help.

In today’s edition of You Couldn’t Make It Up, Vladimir Soloviev wants Tucker to come and work for his propaganda operation in Moscow.

He was set to be one of Dominion’s first witnesses to testify at trial,
Could this be the reason?

Pretty much guaranteed. The text messages Dominion got hold of ahead of the hearing pretty much prove Carlson was more interested in Fox ratings and stock price and was prepared to say anything on air in pursuit of them - including things that were opposite to his belief (apparently he actually hates Donald Trump) and things he knew were untrue (The election wasn’t stolen; Dominion voting machines weren’t fraudulent or faulty).

He may not have been personally responsible for the entire mess but he’s senior enough and influential enough to have been highly complicit and to be able to act as the sacrificial lamb. I don’t know how high up the decision to sack him was taken but it does have a whiff of the News of the World about it, and it was the man himself who decided that needed to close in order to protect the empire.

Not sure if this is just trolling but RT briefly tweeted a welcome message "We are happy to have Tucker Carlson on our team". Very appropriate that he could end up finally as Putin's (official) puppet.

It's obviously trolling. Pretty sure sanctions would prevent him from being paid, even if he didn't he is better as a useful idiot for them trotting out their talking points without being paid.

He'll do better going to an online right-wing news platform like Rumble or The Daily Wire alternatively building his own platform.

Like hell it has, he will be taken up by some other network in the U.S. He had a huge audience, more fool Fox and Murdoch for getting rid of him which cost them more in market value on removing him, than their settlement figure with Dominion. I also believe Fox News audience fell dramatically on his replacement.

His problem is thanks to the text messages being published, it’s now fairly clear he doesn’t like Trump and never really believed the Dominion machines were rigged. It’s hard to see any of the other right wing networks taking him on.

Canning him certainly did cost Fox a pretty penny but they have form for lancing the boil in this way. News of the World was ruthlessly terminated when it threatened to poison the family brand, despite being the UK’s top selling Sunday paper. The Murdoch family, and Fox itself, are sitting on a massive cash pile and can afford to take drastic action like this and then hope to ride out the storm.

In any case, they have another libel case coming up and may hope to persuade everyone that they are already getting their house in order by getting rid of the person most associated with the contended claims.

He thought he was bigger than Fox News. The Murdochs don't work that way. No one is indispensable to them and no one is bigger than their brands.

He's tarnished goods. No important US broadcaster will rush to sign him anytime soon.

Yeah but he's a shoe in for President . The US electorate are bonkers, hence their choices of leader in recent years.

Too young to be President right now. ;)
