I've not seen him in many of the other roles cited but do remember him as the nightclub owner in the avant-garde film "The Fruit machine"

Cracker was fantastic TV. Ahead of it's time proving he could do serious work beyond comedy. A great actor and a big loss indeed.

I think I have seen virtually every film and series that he was in. Can't think of one where he gave a less than great performance.

He was in the Harry Potter films as Rubeus Hagrid, and very well he played it, too. I laughed when this huge, towering ogre battered down the door to Hut-On-The-Rock, looking menacing...then said, "Sorry 'bout tha'" and put it back!
He was also in Goldeneye as Valentin Zukovsky. "Walther PPK, 7.65 millimetre. Only three men I know use such a gun...and I believe I've killed two of them." He'll be missed. |

RIP to a great actor and such a lovely guy. I met him in a Glasgow hospital in 2019. I was visiting the renal transplant team for the first time and he comes into the waiting area. Larger than life chatting away to everyone. When he sat next to me I couldn't believe I was sitting next to Hagrid.
