What a terrible thing to happen in your own house.. We could never even imagine what the family are going through. Tragic . Their lives are ruined by gun crime

Pretty tragic but a salutary lesson: When there's an altercation in the street outside in the dark, don't open your front door and rubber neck.

Also hearing noise and checking where it's coming from is standard behaviour. You wouldn't expect someone to shoot through it, it isn't her fault at all. You have a right to open your front door.

Whilst I appreciate your view, it is victim blaming of the highest order. I’m sure the poor mother of the child will replay that in her mind every second of every day and will probably never get over it.

Bottom line is. If there is a commotion outside your house the chances are most people will try to seek out what the issue is, I probably would.

Nobody, and I repeat NOBODY, would expect a firearm to be involved.

So whilst I appreciate your view, I also think it is highly dismissive and condescending.

For what it's worth I don't blame her mother one bit, she will blame herself forever though and the tribute was odd

She was a unique, chatty, nosey little girl
