ntlworld account still works even though account was closed
 

Anyone else have old accounts that still work after having your account closed.


I had an Virginmedia account that used to be with NTL and the email address still works.


Account is now closed yet email still active?




It's been over a year.

I have an @virgin.net addy from when I originally had Virgin's dial-up account in '98. That still works OK. It even works if my other services are suspended.

CF thread notifications go through it so there's usually a few tens of emails a day.

There must be millions of mail boxes from years gone by just collecting up random emails here and there.

I would suspect that those that are idle for a specific period are automatically removed from the server as part of routine garbage collection.

Not if like me they have arranged for emails to be forwarded to another email client like Gmail. My old NTL email account is still going strong.

Just thought it would have been shutdown by now.
