Misty Mirror in the Bathroom.
 

I wonder if anyone can help me with this....

Since my bathroom refit for some odd reason I have noticed the mirror in the bathroom is almost always steamed up even when the shower is not in use and the window is open. The only time the mirror seems ok is when the light is on and extractor fan is going, what could be the cause of this suddenly?

Its left me scratching my head this one.

After a refit? New plaster, tiles or paint? If so, there it could be coming from them as they dry out.

I put an antifog spray I used for my glasses when we had to wear masks on them, or a lightly soaped hand rubbed over the mirror helps.

ITs been a month or so since they finished so I would have thought it would have dried out by now.

It will steam up if it is colder than the air. Is it on an outside wall, maybe with less insulation underneath it than it had before?

The wall that its on is an internal wall with the airing cupboard behind it and until the refit never steamed up before even when I used to bath when I had a bath.

When our walls had cavity insulation fitted, and double glazing added, the coldest surfaces, such as the bathroom mirror, always got condensation. I'd rather that, than damp walls. Airing the rooms sorts out excess humidity.

After fully tiling the bathroom one Spring, it took months for the humidity levels to drop to "normal" because the only path out for the moisture was via the grouting. I was told years later that it best practice not to grout immediately, but to allow the adhesive and the walls they are fitted-to, to dry.

Is your central heating on in the bathroom or do you have a heated towel rail.
