R.I.P Anna Karen
 

EASTENDERS and On the Buses star Anna Karen died in a house fire aged 85 last night.

The 70s actress, who found fame for her role as Olive in the TV sitcom based around the number 11 bus, died in the blaze at her home in Ilford, east London.

Can only pray the smoke got her and not the fire.

About 15 years ago early one morning there was a knock and shouting at my door. 2 neighbours were there yelling at me that there was a fire next door. I ran in but my neighbour was already dead. She was elderly and a smoker, she dropped a cigarette into freshly dried clothes and as she tried to put it out the fire spread to her clothes and she went up in flames. Can not imagine a worse way to go and I have been terrified by the idea of a house fire ever since

Thankfully, it's usually the case that people pass out or die from the smoke as opposed to the fire. It"s still a horrendous way to go though.

I don't watch Eastenders, but have fond memories of On The Buses and Olive.
