Fixed Explorer crashing issue
I'm not sure if I ever posted this issue here or not but it had been ongoing for around 2 years.
I had an issue where in Either Windows 10 or Windows 11 I would be using the computer fine and suddenly for no reason my mouse pointer would start to stutter and jump around and then Windows Explorer would crash and restart and this could happen multiple times while I'm using the PC before I restart my PC where again the problem could continue. Even though at first I thought the problem was mouse or ram timings which I changed and nothing happened I then thought Video drivers which I downgraded and still no change. Last week I bought a new 32" 4K monitor to swap out one of my 28" 4K monitors to which I had 2 identical monitors. Since the swap out there has been no explorer crashes while using the PC touch wood.... My PC hasn't been restarted for 2 days and there has been no crashes which is a record as usually within that time I get multiple crashes. All i can think is that due to the fact I had 2 identical monitors there must have been some sort of incompatibility with a driver or something but I'm so glad its been sorted. |
Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
It wasn't that it was something else.

I had an issue a few years ago where my pc wouldn't boot properly sometimes and wouldn't detect my 2nd hard drive, it turned out to be caused by an external USB card reader (even if there were no cards in it). Once I removed it I had no more issues. |

Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
It was not because you were using 2 of the same screens. That was not the reason for the fault. A possible fault in one or a poor cable connection perhaps but not just have 2 of the same monitor.

Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
Well running 2 identical screens in itself is not an issue no matter what your logic is. There is another reason caused it whether software or hardware.

Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
I do not believe it I know it as a fact. I have run eyefinity with 3 identical screens I have run nvidia surround with 3 identical screens and I have also had to run on intel with 2 identical screens. As I said if it was because of the screens then it was because of a fault not because you were running 2 of them

Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
And just because your setup works with 3 identical screens means that all setups with different identical screens will work every time?
Never heard of incompatibility etc? |

I really don't know why me explaining my issue and fix has ruffed you up so much it seems so silly and childish. |
Re: Fixed Explorer crashing issue
did you use any adapters, converters, or leads which were say displayport one end, something else on other?
where I work now,and where I worked before most people had 2 monitors, almost always 2 of the same make and model, those with desktops 2 dvi cables, laptops often 2 hdmi leads from a dock. I'm glad you fixed it, but 2 of the same monitor being the problem does seem very unlikely, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, as long as you're happy, maybe one day someone else will have same problem as you, will find this thread from a search, and it will help them. i suppose if you try those 2 monitors on various other devices and same problem you'll know |

Just remember Correlation does not mean Causation. I did a search back and saw you posting about explorer crashes in 2015. These 2 identical screens. I assume you had the explorer issue from day one with the 2? |
