DIY Question
 

I'm trying to mount a 2 bar plug on the wall that doesn't have mounting holes in the back of the casing.

I bought the mounts needed from Amazon...

These simply just fell off.....

I tried Gorilla tape that holds up to 6kg but it just keeps peeling off.

I also tried gorilla glue and it fell off.

Anyone have any idea what i can try?

I'm guessing that the wall has a poor surface. It might be better to mount a small plate (metal, plastic or wood) with screws and plugs and then use the adhesive tape to fix the unit to that. Self adhesive Velcro (hook and loop) is an alternative if you need to unmount the unit at any time.

Have you got a hot glue gun? My Lidl one was the best £3 I've spent.

Sanding whichever surface it's pulling away from may help.

But as heero say, screws & plugs are really the way to go.

Rawlplugs and screws through the 2 mounting holes on the backplate.

It sounds like you painted your wall with Teflon. (Or more likely it’s a vinyl finish wallpaper or a kitchen wall with a film of grease on it). You need to prepare your surface properly. That means giving it a savage cleaning, a brief, rough sanding, another clean to remove dust, and then try glueing again.

Also be aware that dangling cables from your extension lead, including its own cable, will apply force to it - the power supply in particular will apply a rotational force (torque) that may be surprisingly strong and could overcome the strength of the glue even before it has a chance to cure. You need to make sure the whole assembly is fully supported while the glue dries and ideally the power supply cable should be neatly finished with cable clips against the wall.

Are the 2 white dots in centre essential structure or points you could punch through?

Ive been using Gripits fixings and currently have got some holding a wide mirror and another holding part of a Boeing 747 Window panel.


They hold weight very well and great for plasterboard walls.
