This will be the streaming box for broadband only customers that is being beta tested by users through the virgin online forum

I wonder what the NDA actually covers, bearing in mind that the beta tests are fairly common knowledge.

"Now you can record up to 50 hours which will be available for 90 days". Backwards steps.... Sunny future of streaming boxes?

The NDA often states more than you think but I can't share more.

Well its quite clear the new mini streaming box is the UPC Liberty Global Poland device which I detailed above and has been in use for 12 months now. So why VM are using NDAs for the UK beta testing of this product is rather pointless imo.

I don't doubt it but, given that Virgin publicly announced the trial, the cat is out of the bag. Streaming devices are available in Liberty's other markets, so the only real "secret" is the actual content available.

Yes, but that’s a conscious decision made, egged on by the content makers who want to limit our ability to time-shift viewing to maximise their profits. It’s nothing to do with the technology. I think it’s only a matter of time before we find that everything we have recorded on our Sky or Virgin boxes is deleted after 90 days.

I would far rather we could take out a subscription and watch any programme we liked from the cloud. We could be permitted a reasonable amount of content per month, which would be dependent on how new the content was.

I don’t appreciate being pressured to watch programmes from a series within a strict time-frame. We are not all binge watchers and some of us have lives beyond the TV screen.

That says to me that you tend to view on live TV. Not the most productive means of viewing, but each to his own.
