What happens to recordings when a Sky branded channel closes down.

As we know, programmes recorded from encrypted Sky channels aren't accessible if you stop subscribing to them.

What would happen if, say, Sky 1 closed down? You obviously can't continue to subscribe to a channel that no longer exists, so would any recordings made prior to the closure playback?

Also, since Comcast bought Sky, have any more channels become Subject to the no active subscription, no access to recordings from that channel rule?

Your recordings from deleted channels should be safe for about three months, I believe. This happened most recently when Universal closed down.

I'm thinking more about Sky branded channels.

I don't see why it would be any different.

When Sky Ocean Rescue HD closed, recordings were available for 3 months.

Because Sky stop the ability to play back recordings from a channel if you stop subscribing to that channel.

Ahh right. Presumably this was encrypted on VM (think it might have been FTA on their own platform), so if a channel closes, it mustn't be classed as no longer being subscribed to (even though it would be impossible to subscribe to a channel that no longer existed).

Just a guess but, as you subscribe to channel packages rather than individual channels, you should still be able to view the recordings if a Sky channel closes.

If you drop down to a lower package, you wouldn't be able to watch recordings from current or closed Sky channels.
