Unfortunately where you have a mentality in the military that they are the true power and civilians and elections are allowed only as long as the military approves, you will get this sort of thing from time to time.

I suspect it is a generational thing ... pensionable generals who hanker for the good old days. With any luck, once they’re dead and gone things will start to settle down.
