Anyone received the HUB 4 free upgrade email?

Yesterday I received an email from VM, offering an upgrade to HUB 4 at no cost. There was a link to click on with my surname and address in pre-filled fields. My first name was not filled and when I tried to type, it was not possible. Nor was it possible to move to the next stage - chose delivery date.

I rang VM but ended up using their text help service. I was told that VM would not send emails with links and that it was spam.

Now, I have checked the email and it is from email@em.virginmedia.com with standard TLS encryption.

I also checked the linked website and it's address starts with virginmedia.com and has a padlock symbol, also a valid security cert issued by globalsign.

News articles on the web state that VM is offering HUB 4 to selected customers.

I know that it is often the case that one department in VM is not aware what another is doing, so I am still wondering if this was a genuine offer? Has anyone else receive a similar offer?

Chances are it is genuine. VM does send emails with links, and as per the news article, Hub4's are now being offered to some people. Try calling again if the webpage still doesn't work.

However, there's nothing to stop someone cloning a genuine email for their own purposes so it always pays to be cautious.

ps. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome - glad to be here! I think I will now persevere and try to talk to someone, rather than text.
