Threads are concurrently executable code blocks with the same process space. They can be scheduled to run in parallel by the kernel to take advantage of multiple processors and/or multiple processor cores.

I have 174 running on Windows 10, and before you say omg! it really doesn't matter on a modern computer.

2 Apps including Task manager

80 Background processes

92 Windows processes.

97 processes but I'm only using the browser ( FF 75 64 bit) at the moment. W7 Pro 64 bit ( Laptop )

Lots of these are effectively idle.

Just checked on my work laptop with all the VPN and security and (wait for it);

8 Apps
190 background processes
114 windows processes

Blimey! Luckily my machine is an i7 running at around 5% utilisation and 16GB of RAM running at around 50% used

Re: How many processes do you have running RIGHT NOW?

My Linux box (ps -ef | wc -l) gives 298 (less one for the header line) is 297. Of these 105 are owned by my account.
That said things work differently so there are lots of background tasks that are then used by my email tool - this do the actual communications stuff so the tool can simply utilise them and display the results.
At the system level, each Windows partitions mounted has own process, looks like each CPU core has some sort of process and so on.
If I look at the screen I'm running KDE plasma desktop, Kontact (email/calendar/contacts/RSS feeds), Konversation (IRC client), Firefox, Konsole (shell) and some stuff like Dropbox and Megasync.

I have 91 running atm, cant be bothered to screenshot them. :)

Dude111 14-04-2020 15:44

I have 11 right now.....

Why isnt KERNEL32 set to RT?? -- You would think such an important process would be REAL TIME. (You can change it of course but it will go back to HI)

So much I dont know still after all these years..........
