VPN Configuration
I have just signed up with a VPN service.
Amongst the blurb detailing setting it mentions adding the service to the gateway so that all LAN users take advantage of VPN without needing to configure anything. Is it possible to use VPN with a VM SuperHub, and if so are instructions available? At present I am configuring individual PC's and devices. |
Re: VPN Configuration
A word of warning that if you are changing the DNS settings etc on the SuperHub - if you are using a V6 or a TiVo that you may start getting issues as they require the VM settings.
You may be better setting each device you want to use with the VPN. |
Re: VPN Configuration
OK, thanks. I'll stick with the individual connections as that works and won't upset our Tivo's.

Re: VPN Configuration
There's also no way to set the superhub up as a VPN gateway, just FYI.
It is possible to use a dedicated router for such a feat and depending on the model you can even pick and choose which devices use the VPN connection. Keep in mind that VPNs are quite slow, you will see a dip in your connection speed. |

Re: VPN Configuration
If you're running it on the device directly and it's fairly powerful (like a good PC) then the overhead will be minimal, but running it on a router will likely see a performance hit as OpenVPN isn't particularly well optimised for it.

I can live with assigning PC's and devices individually so it's no harm. The only issue is a 10 device limit on the VPN contract. And I'm not overly compromised by that. |
