To find out which version of windows try holding down the Windows key+R, type winver and press enter. You should get a window pop up with the version of windows that is installed.

Most (if not all) email providers have a webpage that you can log into with a web browser to access emails so that would be the first thing i'd suggest to look at.

Start button/computer (right click)/properties if that way still exists in W10. I don't have an email application but I can still send and recieve via webmail.

He is running Windows 7 home so he said he will update to Windows 10 Home which I believe comes with a e Mail App.

Why not just install an email app for free?

Another +1 for Thunderbird especially as you then have local copies of everything that was sent or recieved. Setup is automated after you enter the email address(s)

It also has a handy diary with reminders built in that can be automatic if the sender has sent an invite to say a meeting next week.

The email address that had created was so long for example :-

johnsoap34@396Atwyford,com

He had not told any one that email so I created a new one that is easier for him to remember and set the email app ok.

Thanks for your help.
