I was looking for a file in Vista Windows/System32 and these odd files appeared.

Google has no idea, does anyone have any ideas?

Do a malwarebytes scan, and run CCleaner. Worth a try.

Malwarebytes is not compatible with Vista. CCleaner found nothing, neither did my other antiviral programs.

Try opening a small one with notepad. They might be some kind of log file. Even if not there's sometimes some plain text within a file giving it's id or origin away.

I noticed that the first one shows up from 2013, and the last one from 2018. They might be image files from Minecraft. THis might work to check your computer, it's a web based scanner https://www.trendmicro.com/en_gb/for...housecall.html

I opened _rzi_00.202 and it was all gobbledegook until the last line "SubtitleWorkshop251.exe".

I looked that up and it's what it says, a subtitling program. But I have never wanted to subtitle anything?

I have moved them to another drive to see if anything complains.

So that just leaves the other two 100Mb+ files with the square symbol and accented W. Far to big to open with Notepad, so I tried Wordpad. Exposed near the end were strings of files with the suffix "cnw" and "Adaware". I've not had Adaware for many years, so I suspect they are some sort of listing of nasty ads? Moved like the other files, hoping nothing goes wrong. :dunce:
