Tivo (old style) video output

Hi all, got a question about the Tivo (older 500 GB model with HDMI and scart output) video output options.

I see there is an option for 1080P (passthru only). I'm not sure what this actually means although i'm guessing the Tivo doesn't output a useable 1080P signal to the TV.

Thanks in advance.

It means that if you are using an application that has a 1080p source, you'll get 1080p out of the TiVo. Netflix is the main user of this; possibly also YouTube.

The old Tivos will never upscale to 1080p

Ah, thanks a lot Spiderplant. ;)

Reason I ask is the 1080i from my tivo for e.g. BBC1 HD looks poorer than I expected (and subjectively worse than Freeview HD 1080i) on my new tv . I was hoping there was some way of providing the tv with a 1080P signal.
Perhaps I might try 720P.
