MOD apology over snatch Land Rover deaths

I'm so glad that she and her supporters have got some form of justice after so long.

It's appalling that she had to fight the MOD all the way and as for the 'lessons have been learned' pledge well time will tell but the MOD rarely seems to learn much from its mistakes.

Our brave servicemen and their families really shouldn't have to go through this sort of thing to get justice.

The snatch rover's were long past their time and should never have been used and many senior officers told the M.O.D before Iraq and Afghanistan yet again highlighting the glaring divide between experience and beaurocracy that cost us too many fine people. Sadly this is repeated on a daily basis by the M.O.D which is too bloated and ineffective squandering billions that could be much better used elsewhere. Whilst I'm glad the families have been given the much deserved apology for failing their loved one's i highly doubt it's a truly sincere apology as I'd bet good money this was done just to try and close the issue rather then understanding the root of this issue to begin with and ensuring it doesn't happen again.

Sadly I believe a degree of negligence and ineptitude lies within the MOD's DNA. A rather cavalier attitude to the wellbeing of our forces by their 'superiors' and politicians has been evident for centuries.

During my time in the Army there was a "just get on with it mentality". I lost good friends during my time in the military but it was never to incorrect kit. I hope this apology has gone a small way to healing the wounds of the family's of those brave service personal.
