Control volume via Tivo box?

Is it possible to control the volume via the Tivo box?

As I have connected my VM Tivo box to a monitor, that has speakers but it would be easier to control the volume with the tivo box.

If I remember right, only analogue sound can be controlled this way (via the Scart socket audio). Digital sound outputs have to be controlled by the receiving equipment (TV, Soundbar etc).

That only applied for the V boxes. TiVo has no built in volume control.
