Moped crime out of control?

Quote:

Crime involving mopeds has gone up by more than 600% in London in the past two years, BBC London can reveal.
Met Police figures for 2016 show more than 7,500 offences, including attacks, robberies and thefts, recorded to date - about 22 per day.
The Met said the rise, which was mainly due to teenagers stealing mopeds and using them to commit crimes, was a "huge concern".
It has, however, denied the problem is "out of control".

I think it is out of control and that's why it's on the increase at such a rate and going to get worse. Around here groups of these kids race around brazenly getting up to all sorts of dangerous and anti-social nonsense on the roads, pavements and parks so quite evidently the police aren't able to catch them. The troublemakers are only too aware that the more risks they take, the more likely it is for the police to just let them go.

I have reported one guy who roars around on a mini-bike. No helmet, so lights, no number plate. But the police say they are "involved with other calls".

Police can't chase them anyway if they're not wearing helmets IIRC.

Which is in no way an incentive for low life thieves and *******s to ride around without helmets is it?...

Honestly are we really saying that the more danger someone is prepared to create when committing a crime, the less likely they are to be apprehended? That'll be good news for budding terrorists.

Yeah but that'd just be a laugh... ;)

London needs it's own "broken windows" type before much will change.

Trouble is that too much of London has been bought up by the Chinese, Russians, rich celebrity luvvies, bent bankers, failed politicians, overpaid public/private sector executives and Corbyn's Islington elite of champagne socialists. ;)

Fixed that for you. ;)

Programs like traffic cops and police interceptors have now made it common knowledge that if you drive like a twonk they Police will inevitably stand down a pursuit in case a member of the public or the crim gets hurt and they end up getting a shoeing by the media and members of the public who think perfect hindsight is a requirement for joining.

So I'd like to know by whose definition these things aren't out of control and what credible plan the Met and other forces have to deal with this problem.
