This Conservative Government should be totally ashamed of themselves for the Food Bank situation in the UK.

Some of the applicants of these food banks are people that are unemployed or people who cannot survive on the benefit system.

I am due to retire at the end of this year, but l cannot afford to. If l retire, l will put my wife, and family in deep poverty.

And l will NOT allow that.

This Government should be ashamed of themselves. And for members who may feel that l am whinging. Personally l don't give a damn.

There are people out there, who have been redundant by companies tthat have closed down - is it there fault.

Job Centres are now full f vacancies that are controlled by Agencies.

At our local food bank the majority walk to the car park a couple of hundred yards away and drive off in mercs, bmw, range rovers and a few lexus and they certainly don't look like they are suffering hardship. Not saying that's the same all over but for all your anti tory rhetoric Arthur the start of all this happened under your formally beloved labour party.

Its nothing new, people have always been poor or suffered due to low or lack of income, its just in today's modern world news and media is everywhere so people talk about it more.

Having worked for a bank and also been witness to conversations in job centres people are more concerned with getting new trainers for their kids and owning an iPhone than that are with actually feeding and clothing their kids.

I once had a single parent young woman call up asking for us to give her bank charges back as she couldn't afford food for her little one, shee was actually crying. However on her statement just a week before £90 odd was spent in a sports store on new trainers!

Where is the prority there. Get some food and then see whats left and go get cheaper trainers! Oh and I never gave the charges back. She went over drawn through her own fault.

So the question really is are people really poorer or are they choosing to spend their money on non essential goods that they really could do without??

There for using the food banks as they have spent their money elsewhere.

Whilst it's true that some people make poor expenditure choices, it's important not to make sweeping generalisations.

Any one of us could have our lives changed for the worse in the blink of an eyelid.

They mean delays, mistakes, maladministration etc.

The new Universal Credit system is notoriously bad for leaving people with no money for food, let alone luxuries.

It would do you well to remember that anybodys life can change in the blink of an eyelid.

All it takes is the loss of an order in a factory, a relationship breakdown, the failure of a business, the onset of disability or illness etc.

I used to work in a homeless shelter and witnessed how easy it is for someone to slide down the slippery slope many times
