Superhub publicly accessible with multiple static IP setup

We have a Superhub version 1 with 5 IPs.

After having it setup as per the PDF they sent, I notice that not only can I access the superhub login page via the LAN IP of 192.168.0.1 but I can also access it via the publicly available Gateway IP that they tell you to use in the Gateway IP Address section of the Static IP Subnet within the Business Settings.

Is this how it is supposed to work as it is a big security risk?

Thanks

Dan

yes it is and that is why you can disable web access and you should create and very strong password if you leave it enabled. I don't know about the shub but most good routers provide you with an additional layer of security by creating an access control list and restricting admin access to a certain ip address (e.g. you could set your home ip so only you could access the shub from home).

Thanks, at least I know that is how it is supposed to work. If that is the case I was wondering if I could keep the LAN IP accessible but turn of access via the gateway ip. I'll have a look at what the access list can do....

you most definitely can and it will more than likely be in the form of a tick box saying "enable remote access" or "remote management". My Linksys router has that as one option and if enabled I can then specify encryption, ports and ip addresses so if I absolutely needed to manage my router remotely, it can be done very securely.

Thanks, I'll do some digging. Remote Management is actually 'off' on the Superhub itself which is 'interesting'...!
