How much notice do I need to give to cancel just internet?

Hi,

We currently have Internet, TV and Phone with VM and I would like to cancel the internet soon, as we having Sky fibre fitted.

I was wondering how much notice do I need to give to cancel the internet only and keep the TV and Phone at VM?

If you are out of contract I believe it is 30 days

30 days is correct.

...but, dependent on your current bundle, you may have to enter into a new minimum 12 month period (to get best price).

Yes, 30 days is correct. You do know you'll need to have a Sky (well BT) telephone line installed to receive Sky Fibre? So you'll end up with two telephone lines if you keep the VM one too.

I'd also recommend you check the pricing too as VM sell their packages in bundles and the more you have the better discount you get. Removing broadband only may actually have no effect or increase your monthly cost if you just keep the TV and phone and as Robbo pointed out, may enter you into a new 12 month contract.

Hi,

We will be phoning up VM next weekend and talking to retentions.
We currently paying around £97 a month, for:

200MB
2x Tivo with Full TV (including Sky Sports and Sky Movies)
Phone with a package to include anytime calls to UK and Cheaper International calls.

I just looked on there bundle build and created a custom bundle for £61.50 excluding any discounts and removing internet and 1 Tivo box.

The reason for the 2 phonelines is Sky can not offer International calls as cheap as Virgin Media and would cost a lot to call Australia for around an hour per month.

There's a really cheap way of phoning anywhere for zero additional cost if you have broadband.
We use FaceTime video calls as our family use Apple products but other brands are available.

I'd speak to retentions before you go ahead and get Sky Fibre installed as you may get a good deal from them and can then still cancel the Sky order.

In relation to the phone line, as others have said, FaceTime, Skype, etc, are free for video calling if both parties have the relevant equipment.

Also factor into your cost calculations that you'll be paying VM £19 and Sky £17.40 for line rental alone and I'm sure getting rid of one of those would surely pay for an international call package as per yorkshireborn's post.

Sky has gone down the pan as there no room in the fibre box.
So staying with VM and will phone up retentions next week and see what they can do for us.
