Apps slow at loading on Tivo
 

Hi just need to know if it is only me that has a problem with all the apps on my Tivo box loading slowly.. is there something wrong with the box ? Netflix, You Tube, BBCI player all very slow at loading on my Tivo no problems on any other device they all load quickly & no problems, you tube videos very slow at loading vids & quite a few don't load at all, i have asked a VM engineer all these questions & all i get is that there is something wrong with the box & i don't think there is as everything else works fine it is just the apps, i just need to know if anybody else is having the same problem with the apps..just to put my mind at rest..

It's the box mate. Not just yours but it would seem most are slow. My 3 are an absolute joke to use.

Tivo was slow before the update, for me it has become a lot worse since.

Just as they announce yet another above-inflation price rise, down goes the quality of service.

Thanks i just knew it was the apps running slow, they should just tell the truth say yes we have problems with the apps, but i suppose that would be to easy, friends who have Sky, well there Sky apps load straight away no problems, but i don't want Sky, so why cant VM sort this problem out, as you say the price is going up but the quality of service is going down..

Most people who have a Sky box don't have apps it's only those with Sky Q and you are currently limited to Vevo and YouTube for the moment although they do load instantly.

The new Tivo will be more like Sky Q - it could even be better, so be patient. I suspect we will hear more about the launch of the new box within a few weeks.

The current Tivo is old, therefore has a slow processor compared with current devices, so it doesn't surprise me that apps are slow to load.


One solution, as OB suggests, is to wait for the new Tivo box. but this may be an increased monthly cost.


Personally, until we know more about the new Tivo, I prefer to use an inexpensive streamer box alongside the current Tivo for apps. This will give you all the apps you mention, plus even more, and they will load quickly.

How do you know its going to be like Sky Q as all we have at the moment is conjecture and supposition OB.:)
